Questions to ask before you pay a dental deposit

A deposit is not the treatment

A deposit is money you pay before the work, under someone's terms. It might reserve a week, a dentist, or a quoted package. It might be refundable, partly refundable, or not. None of that is standard. It is whatever the written terms say, from the legal entity that receives the transfer.

VeriClinify does not take treatment deposits, does not book flights, and does not hold a clinic's money. If you pay, you pay the clinic or the agency you chose. The questions below are for that payment.

Ask these before you transfer

1. Who is the payee? Legal name on the account, matching the clinic or the intermediary. Compare it with the name you checked.
2. What does the payment reserve? A date, a dentist, a hotel, or only a place in a queue.
3. Does it freeze the clinical price? Often it does not. An examination can still change the plan. Read why a quote can change.
4. What is refunded, and when? Cancellation by you, cancellation by them, a visa problem, or a plan you decline after the examination are different events. Ask each one.
5. What currency, and who pays the transfer fee?
6. What document will you receive? A receipt with the legal name, the amount, and the terms.
7. What is still excluded? Grafts, final crowns, flights. A deposit on an incomplete quote locks an incomplete quote.

Write the answers into the same table you use to compare offers. A clinic that is cheaper only because the deposit is non-refundable is not automatically a better clinic.

Agency and clinic are different payees

The Ministry of Health's Health Tourism Department publishes a list of authorized facilities and a separate list of authorized intermediary organisations. If an agency asks for the deposit, ask whether the clinic ever receives it, and what happens if you and the clinic do not proceed. Authorization of an intermediary is not a warranty and not a ranking. It is a reason to know the name on the list and the name on the bank transfer.

Clinical uncertainty does not pause for a receipt

The FDA describes implants as surgery with risks and with healing that may take several months or longer. Paying a deposit does not remove that uncertainty. If the clinic finds a reason to change the plan, you want the refund rule already written. Do not discover it at the front desk.

What this means for patients

You can decline a deposit until the terms are specific. A serious clinic can send a one-page answer. Comparing treatment offers does not require you to pay VeriClinify, and it does not require you to pay a clinic before you have chosen. When you do choose, the payment relationship is yours with that clinic.

A receipt you can still read next year

Ask for a PDF that states the amount, the currency, the date, the payee's legal name, what the payment reserves, and the refund sentence. Save it outside the chat app. If the only record is a screenshot of a transfer, you have a banking record and not the terms.

If the payee is a person rather than the clinic's legal name, pause. It can be legitimate. It can also be a way for the money to leave the organisation you checked. You do not need to accuse anyone. You need the names to match, or a written reason they do not.

Card payments and bank transfers fail differently. Ask which disputes are even possible. This is not a recommendation of a card scheme. It is a question about whether you can reverse a mistake. If the answer is no, the refund clause in the contract is the only lever, so it has to be specific.

Pressure is not a term

"The price is valid today" can be true of a currency quote and still be a poor reason to skip the refund sentence. Ask for the validity date and the refund sentence in the same email. A clinic that can send the price can send the sentence. If they cannot, you are not late. The offer is unfinished.
